Hi everyone! I'm getting ready to try sword balancing. After reading several discussions on the Cult of Athena swords, I don't think I want to start with them. I found this link: audrena.com/BalancingSword.html I'm particularly interested in the Anubis. Does anyone have any experience with it (or this company?)
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Any pros or cons on this?
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 3:23 PMI haven't held the Anubis scimitar but I've held ones of a similar cast and they're too heavy for me. I like to think that I have a pretty tough noggin too. Maybe you should email her and ask about the weight and compare it to some of the other potential purchases you could make?

Re: Any pros or cons on this?
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 7:34 PMhmmm....I'm so confused, because I definitely want one with enough weight to make it balance more easily, but I don't want to dent my head more than necessary. That's a good idea though. I'm going to have to look around. Maybe I can find someone here in town that has a couple and see which ones work best. -

Re: Any pros or cons on this?
Sun, May 4, 2008 - 6:26 AMThe problem that I see with the cheaply made heavier scimitars is that they're too thin so they don't distribute the pressure very well. It feels like they're cutting into my skull and I'm not very tender headed. But I've tried the same weight with a thicker balancing flat edge and not felt nearly the head splitting sensation that I get with the thin, heavy ones. I think those thin ones are designed for double scimitar routines so that they can be lined up side by side a little easier. I can't even picture how horrid that would feel on my head though. If I hated one then I would probably be thinking hommicidal thoughts when working with two. If you can test them out before you buy that would be the best course of action. Good luck!
