A shoulder bag for rapier & long weapon fencers

Begging the moderator's indulgence, I wanted to tell you guys about my carrying bag for rapier/long weapon fencers. I've been fencing rapier, and other weapons for years--this is the bag I wished I'd been able to get all along, and since no one was making it, I went ahead and had it manufactured. It's a "triangle" style shoulder bag that's biog enough and strong enough to carry rapiers and just about as much equipment as you could want to throw in. It;s over FIVE FEET long, and can be adjusted for shorter weapons (the top of the bag had a velcro closure in case you really need to pack something evel longer--a spear, a quando, maybe your favorite broom), the back is padded, the bottom is reinforced, there are roomy outside pockets big enough for a wet fencing jacket... I think it's really a cool poduct at a good price, and I'm trying to reach more rapier fencers. Come check it out:

Thanks for your time,
Jeff

Thanks for your input Jeff...not sure whether your post should have been in the tribe's postings section or not (?)

My students are all sword fans, and I encourage them to buy rifle bags or cases - after reading the various posts here about what everyone takes to carry their swords around and finding only the rifle bags offered really good standard padding and security - a velcro closure isnt my preference for a closing option when i have girls who strap their swords to their motorbikes - a zip or other similar closing is definitely my first choice.

FYI the rifle bags they are picking up are $40 - $75 AUS ( the dearer option with more pockets and larger so able to carry more swords), I personally carry my swords in a heavy aluminium rifle case with padding which cost me $100AUS.

I agree though that people should be considering a high quality bag option for their swords - hands up who's seen or carried their swords around in flimsy fabric bags or even just a rug?

I used to dance with a gal who carted her sword around in a shawl or a wrap. Personally, I use a hard-sided rifle case. For SCA and Renaissance Faire events, I'll be making a sheath that I can carry across my back. I just bought the cowhide so we'll see how it goes. Prototype first though.

I use to carry around four different custom made sword bags to gigs and classes. I can tell you that that was sooooooo awekward til I bought a $75aus rifle bag. Its padded, water proof, sturdy and big enought to hold all four swords with room for more + 1 cane. The swords I have a weighty, long and still sharp eventhough they have been blunted - Cas Iberia, Moorish and 2 Dragons. Not only is it much easier to carry four swords - its safer. I still have them in their custom made sword bags though to stop them from getting damaged by rubbing together. My rifle bag has cool little zip compartments too big enough to hold my zill, fans, Thai fingers, Poi + my sword care stuff. So not only is it just a sword bag but its actually my prop bag :)

Could one of you post a link or photos of your rifle bags, please?

Also can you tell me do they really look like they are made for rifle storage? I ask because our classes are held in a community center with a strict no-gun policy and I think they might freak out if I walk in with something that looks like a gun case. Yes, I know I could contact someone in advanced and explain to them the situation (which I will), but it is a large facility with a large staff and I just know that I'd end up running into problems with security.

As it is now I just wrap it in a velvet shawl when I'm taking it to class.

      Thanks,
      Anala
